What to do Around Moffat
Heatheryhaugh Lodges are located at the outskirts of the quiet, picturesque town of Moffat, with its many restaurants and pubs, bank and post office. It is ideally situated for exploring much of Scotland, being less than one hour's drive from Carlisle and an hour from either Glasgow or Edinburgh. The region has an appealing collection of art and craft galleries, museums and great houses, Drumlanrig Castle being the foremost.
Around Moffat itself are posted footpaths while for those wishing to walk further there is a host of inviting rambles including sections of Southern Upland Way, the hills of Queensbury, Hartfell, the Devil's Beef Tub and Grey Mare's Tail to name a few. Excellent cycle paths run into the hills and fishing is popular.
The area is home to many golf courses; those close to Moffat include Dumfries, Powfoot, Southerness, Lockerbie and Lochmaben, as well as Moffat's 18 hole course.
